Discipline

Discipline

Consistent with Education Code (Sec 35291.5 and Sec.48900) rules for student discipline are developed at each school site.  In developing rules, schools seek active participation of parents, teachers and administrators and at the middle school level, students.  Each site must review and revise their discipline plans at least every four years.  Board policies, regulations and applicable laws suggest strategies which include but are not limited to referral of a student for advice and counseling, conferencing with parents/guardians, recess restriction, detention during/after school, community service, suspension, removal from class, reassignment to an alternative educational setting, and in extreme cases expulsion from school.
