Since its beginnings as a one-room schoolhouse in 1885, the Rio School District has been the center of the community for all the families it has served. Today, the thriving District continues its tradition of caring for each student. Through teaching excellence, close working relationships and community partnerships, Rio School District inspires students and employees to strive to be lifelong learners who are engaged in the community.

Families appreciate Rio’s small school communities with student enrollments between 500-700 students in the elementary schools and 700 students at the middle schools. Classrooms average 19.7 students per class in kindergarten through third grade, and 26-30 students in fourth through eighth grade. The District is in the process of a long term goal setting and master planning process and has grown by approximately 80 to 100 students annually in recent years.
