Negotiations Update February 2, 2023

The following presents an update about district negotiations with the Rio Teacher’s Association for the 2022-2023 school year.

  • Both parties met for a fourth and final day of negotiations on January 31, 2023 where a tentative agreement was reached.
  • The tentative agreement includes a 9% ongoing change to the salary schedule, retroactive to July 1, 2022, an additional professional development day for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years and minor changes to the article on class size and stipend positions.
  • The final agreement will be voted on by the teachers and then brought to the board for final ratification on February 15th.

Negotiations Update January 20, 2023

The following presents an update about district negotiations with the Rio Teacher’s Association for the 2022-2023 school year.

  • The District and RTA reconvened on Friday for a third round of negotiations.  The day was very productive with exchanges of information regarding the budget and several proposals back and forth.
  • During this session, both parties came to a tentative agreement on all proposed items with the exception of salary.  The day concluded with a proposal by the district to RTA of 8% on schedule salary increase and a one time 4% off schedule bonus retroactive to July 1, 2022 and one additional day of Professional Development for the 2023-2024 and the 2024-2025 school year.
  • RTA responded at the end of the day with a 9% on salary schedule retroactive to July 1, 2022, no one time off schedule bonus, and agreeing to the one additional day of Professional Development for the 2023-2024 and the 2024-2025 school year.
  • The District looks forward to continuing the conversation with RTA on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.”

Negotiations Update November 28, 2022

In the coming months, the District will post regular updates following bargaining sessions with RTA on the successor collective bargaining agreement here.

On November 28, 2022, District and RTA met in their first negotiation session at the District office. After introductions of the team members for RTA and the District, the District provided an update on the status of its budget and RTA proposed an on schedule salary increase of 13.26%.

Thereafter, the District completed its first interim budget and will be prepared to submit a counterproposal to RTA at the next bargaining session which is schedule for January 10, 2023.

Negotiations Update January 10, 2023

The following presents an update about district negotiations with the Rio Teacher’s Association for the 2022-2023 school year.

  • On January 10, 2023, the parties met for the second day of negotiations.

  • The District provided a brief summary of the budget and provided a counter to RTA on Article 8: Class size as well as salary and compensation.

  • The parties negotiated throughout the day around these items and agreed to changes to class size and changes to the stipend schedule.

  • At the conclusion of the day, the District offered a 7% on schedule compensation increase.  RTA’s last offer of the day was an 8% on schedule compensation increase retroactive to July 1, 2022, a 2% additional on schedule salary increase beginning February 1, 2023, and a one time 4% off schedule increase.

  • Teams will reconvene on Friday, January 20, 2023 to continue the negotiations process.
