Good Nutrition = Great Academics!

Rio Child Nutrition logo with an apple treeWelcome to Child Nutrition Services! Our mission is to prepare Rio students for learning, by providing nutritious and delicious meals every day. Our goal is to encourage students to develop, learn, and establish life-long habits for making healthy food choices.

At Rio School District, we put special emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables. Being located in beautiful Ventura County, we are able to benefit from the wonderful abundance of locally grown produce. Each of our schools features Harvest of the Month and offers students a fresh salad bar highlighting a variety of fruits and vegetables. Our menus showcase whole grains, low-fat dairy products, and are free of trans fats.

Rio School District participates in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program.  Every meal we serve meets the state and federal requirements, which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines.

We are pleased to inform you that the Rio School District will continue to offer meals at no cost.  NO Free and Reduced Price School Meal Applications are required.  All students will be provided a healthy breakfast and lunch each school day at no charge regardless of household income levels.

Come and enjoy a meal with us, we look forward to serving you!
