Ventura County Farm Day

On Saturday, November 2nd, Rio School District Regenerative Farm was part of more than 15 Ventura County farms, ranches, and agricultural organizations that opened it's doors to the public to experience a day of agricultural activities and tours during the 12th Annual Ventura County Farm Day.

The first Farm Day was held in Ventura County in the Fall of 2013 and featured a variety of growers, ranches, and agricultural organizations. It has since grown into a community-wide event, now hosted in two counties, with over 30 participating locations, and more than 6,000 visitors each year! It is a dedicated day for the community to get a hands-on learning experience about our local agricultural industry

Rio School District Regenerative Farm was excited to be a farm day location and share with the community the exciting things happening on our farm. Mia the pregnant cow was added just in time for Farm day thanks to the Lynch Family. Mia is due sometime in February or March.

Rio School District Mariachi and Folklorico performed at the event as well and provided entertainment for our community visitors.

Rio Cross Country Meet

The Rio School District is excited to introduce the new Rio K-8 Cross Country League, designed to foster physical fitness, healthy competition, and teamwork among our students. This league aims to create an inclusive environment where students of all skill levels can participate, challenge themselves, and develop lifelong habits of active living.

The District hosted its 1st Cross Country meet on October 30th and welcomed many racers and visitors districtwide. The next meets are:

  • November 8, 2024: Meet at Rio Vista-Rio Del Mar Schools (4:30 pm start)

  • November 15, 2024: Finals at Rio Del Vista-Rio Del Mar (4:30 pm start)

Students will compete in their respective age groups. This series of meets provides a platform for students to set personal goals and work as a team while enjoying the thrill of competition.

  • Grades K-2: 500 yards

  • Grades 3-5: 1 mile

  • Middle School (6-8): 3K (approximately 1.86 miles)

After the student race on November 8th parents, faculty, staff, coaches, and principals are invited to participate in the "Community Run". This event is an excellent opportunity for the entire Rio School District community to come together, celebrate fitness, and build school spirit.

We encourage everyone to join us, cheer on the students, and be part of the fun during the community runs. Whether you're an experienced runner or just joining for the experience, it's a fantastic way to support our young athletes!

50th Day of School
The 50th Day of School is truly one of my FAVORITE days of the year. At Rio Rosales Elementary TK and Kinder classrooms celebrate the 50th day with a 50's themed photo shoot and a sock hop dance party to end the day. It’s so much fun to see students get excited about all the learning that they have done in 50 days. I like watching the students celebrate the 50th Day Sock-hop Style!
Construction Updates Around The District

Rio Del Valle Middle School

Rio Del Valle Middle School has the District's largest amount of current construction projects. Phase 2 of the RDV Athletics Fields is under construction and you can see the baseball fields are coming along. The old kitchen has been demolished to make room for a renovated kitchen and multipurpose room to be completed in April 2025. Lastly, a temporary kitchen and eating facility has been constructed for the new school year.
