Start of the 2024-2025 School Year
The start of the new school year is always a magical time as classrooms and schoolyards come roaring back to life after summer break. Rio School district welcomed back its 5000+ students on August 21st. We’re now in our third year of rolling out transitional kindergarten (TK), a new grade level for four-year-olds that serves as a bridge between preschool and traditional kindergarten. This year, TK is available to all children who will have their fifth birthday between September 2, 2024, and June 2, 2025. By next year it will be open to all four-year-old students. The Rio School District is truly engaged in great things. Students, educators and families are taking on the challenge of becoming a 21st Century Learning Organization and this makes it an exciting place to learn and work.

Rancho Rio - Pumpkin Patch

The Rio School District Regenerative Organic Farm is growing and expanding daily. Students have participated in learning activities on the farm. Students have planted crops, learned about soil and water, and they have also been able to feed some of Rio's Farm animals which include 40+ chickens, 10 ducks and two goats.

Every Fall Rio School District takes Tk-1st Grade students to a pumpkin patch. This year Rio School District will host these same students at the farm as they are growing the Districts 1st pumpkin patch. Students will have been apart of all phases of the the pumpkin patch from planting to harvesting. These students will be able to take home a pumpkin. We are very excited to see the pumpkin patch take shape over the next few months.
