Rancho Rio - Pumpkin Patch

The Rio School District Regenerative Organic Farm is growing and expanding daily. Students from the summer school programs have had the opportunity to take field trips to the farm and experience hands on learning. Students have planted crops, learned about soil and water, and they have also been able to feed some of Rio's Farm animals which include 40+ chickens, 10 ducks and two goats.

Every Fall Rio School District takes Tk-1st Grade students to a pumpkin patch. This year Rio School District will host these same students at the farm as they are growing the Districts 1st pumpkin patch. Students will have been apart of all phases of the the pumpkin patch from planting to harvesting. These students will be able to take home a pumpkin. We are very excited to see the pumpkin patch take shape over the next few months.

Students are attending a variety of programs such as Science Academy, Creative Writing Academy, Sports Academy, TK-K Summer Jump Start, Academia Raices de Cultura (in Spanish) and EXPLORE. Students enjoy the different hands on lessons and activities that are being taught. Summer School Session 2 will end on August 2nd.

Summer School Mini Session #3 will start on August 5th and run through August 9th. We look forward to welcoming more students to our summer school programs.

Impossible Summer Science School
For this years Summer Science Academy Rio School District partnered with Impossible Science. Impossible Science company mission is to inspire one billion questions. Their philosophy is that wonder changes the world. They view wonder as the fundamental first step of all progress and innovation. The right question changes everything. Each week of science camp students experienced different shows on impossibility and science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Each week students tackled these impossible topics with their own hands-on in-classroom experiments. At the end of the session the Impossible Science® Team hosted a science festival, bringing science-center quality experiences to inspire curiosity, thinking, and questioning. Rio would like to thanks Jason Latimer and his team for an amazing summer school experience.10th Annual Community Resource Fair
Revive Community Church is excited to announce that this year marks its 10th anniversary of hosting and organizing the community resources fair. For the past 9 years they have provided a great service to the families of El Rio. The event will be on Saturday August 10th from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at 2640 Alvarado Street. There will be over 50 vendors, educational resources, clothes giveaway, food distribution, backpack giveaway and more.
