After School Programs
After school programs (ASP) operate at all eight school campuses in the Rio School District. The Rio School District provides programming with the support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme.

Art
We’re excited that this year Rio School District has brought art to all eight schools serving grades K-8. Our program is focused on the integration of the Common Core Standards where students explore art through problem solving, innovation and creativity.

Attendance Recovery
Saturday School completely clears an absence, excused or unexcused, from a student’s record. Saturday school is also an opportunity for students to catch up on work and receive academic support.

AVID
AVID targets students who are capable of completing rigorous curriculum but are falling short of their potential. Typically, AVID students will be the first in their families to attend college.

Chess Club
The academic benefits of chess include math problem solving skills and reading comprehension, patience, logic, critical thinking, observation, pattern recognition, and many other influences.

Dual Immersion Academy
The Dual Immersion Academy (DIA) is open to students countywide and is housed at Rio Real Elementary School. The program’s goal is for students to become bilingual, biliterate and bicultural in English and Spanish.

Drama
Are you are thinking you would like to become an actor? The first is to start taking drama classes. Discover lots of tips and different ideas to make your performance the best it can be. Drama class will change your life.

English Learner Program
The Rio School District is committed to preparing all students to succeed in a multicultural society. To achieve this goal, we offer students who are acquiring English a comprehensive and developmental English Learner Education program.

Extended School Year
Extended school year services shall be provided for each individual with exceptional needs who has unique needs and requires special education and related services in excess of the regular academic year.

FoodCorps
Healthy food is a building block for a full life. We see schools as places where we can provide healthy food access and education for all kids. FoodCorps helps schools become places where kids get the nourishment they need to thrive.

Gifted and Talented Education
The Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program supports unique opportunities for high-achieving and underachieving pupils who are identified as gifted and talented.

Healthy Start
The Healthy Start Center will be a resource center for the community, providing services and activities to meet the needs and of children and families.

Hip Hop Mindset
The Hip Hop Mindset dance program offers dance programs to elementary and intermediate schools in Ventura county. Our mission is to spread Hip Hop to the kids in our community and to inspire and motivate them through dance.

Lab Class
The Lab Class is a 6th grade STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, & math) class at Rio Vista Middle School.

Literacy Support Team
The aim of the Literacy Support Team is use technology and the human factor to help students improve their reading skills and to motivate them to read.

Math
To compete in the 21st century and participate fully as informed global citizens, students must have a deep level of mathematical reasoning and conceptual understanding.

Migrant Education
Funds support high quality education programs for migratory children and help ensure that migratory children.

Music
Nearly everyone enjoys music, whether listening, singing, or playing an instrument. But despite this almost universal interest, many school districts are having to do away with their music education programs.

Preschool
The Rio School District has established preschool programs at each of its six elementary school campuses. The number of preschools slots has more than tripled in the last 5 years.

Robotics
Students collaborate in teams to design, build, create and program robots to accomplish different tasks and complete various challenges; such as “Sumo-Bots “, “Plant Sorter”, “Maze Challenge”, and more.

Saturday Success Academy
Saturday Success Academy offers a four-hour program on Saturdays with motivated teachers to excite the students about academic areas in English Language Development & Literacy, Science & Math, Arts, Music & Physical Education.

Science Art Google Academy
The Science Art Google Academy (SAGA) is a one week academy that focuses on expanding knowledge with the Google Apps for Education and other Google Tools.

Summer Drama Camp
Join Mrs. D in one of her summer camps to learn from an industry expert in improv, acting and singing and dancing. Each class is one week long and each Friday is a culminating presentation for the students, friends and families.

Summer Language Academy
The Rio School District Summer Language Academy - Genius Camp is for students entering 3rd - 8th grades. The program offers students the a unique opportunity to explore unique text and a passion of their own.

Summer Science Academy
The Summer Science Camp is a fun-filled three/four weeks in many scientific areas. We have a great staff of motivated teachers to excite the students about science!

VC Indian Education Consortium
The Ventura County Indian Education Consortium provides direct services to American Indian and Alaskan Native students in grades K-12 in Ventura County.

Writers
Children who love to hear stories, children who love to speak, anyone who likes not just to be heard but to hear what other people are saying.

Young Writers Camp
RSD is partnering with the South Coast Writing Project at UCSB to put on a summer writing program at CSUCI for English Language students entering grades 3-8 in the district.
