Developing Life Long Learners

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Rio schools will be closed until May 4. We will continue to update families by email, phone and this website. Currently, all school activities are cancelled, including athletics, performances, competitions and parent meetings.

This closure is in support of public health recommendations to slow the spread of the coronavirus through social distancing. It is strongly recommended that students stay home as much as possible and not gather in public.

We are developing plans to address the variety of ways the District contributes to the community and will communicate when these to you, including new opportunities for community and home learning.

We understand school closures have significant impacts on our students and families, and we hope to resume normal operations in May. Thank you for your understanding, and we wish the very best to your family.

A Message From the Principal

Hello & Welcome Students/Parents/Guardians, The new school year is upon us, and we are excited to welcome our new and returning students.  We hope that you have had an enjoyable and restful summer. We want to extend a warm welcome to you and your child on what promises to be an exciting year of learning.

As we embark on this new year I invite you to partner with us on your child’s learning journey.  Middle school is a time for discovery, learning skills both academic and social, and for newfound independence.  This can be a challenging time in your child’s life, but also one that is extremely fun and rewarding. The skills they learn now will carry with them throughout their lives.  There are many ways in which you can partner with us: joining a committee such as PTA, School Site Council, ELAC, etc… There are committees at the school level and the district level.  You can chaperone our events, or join one of the community nights that ASB hosts. Our counselor also hosts a number of parent workshops. He welcomes suggestions for topics that you all may be interested in. We feel that more than ever it is important for all of us to work together in pursuit of our students success.
