About Rio del Valle

Rio del Valle Middle School opened in 1961 and was the only middle school in the Rio community for 46 years. Now the Rio del Valle Knights work alongside Rio Vista Middle School to offer students top education. In addition, Rio del Valle is a proud member of the elective program AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. The program helps fourth- through twelfth-grade students prepare for four-year college eligibility.

Parent Involvement at Rio del Valle

We would like to welcome all new and returning parents and students for the new school year. We hope you will join us as we work together with our teachers and staff to support the growth and development of students here on campus. We encourage you to participate in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), School Site Council (SSC), English Language Acquisition Committee (ELAC), and other site committees and projects. Please contact the school office for additional information. Meeting dates will be posted on the monthly newsletter/calendar. All parents are welcome to attend. By working together, we can help provide our students with a quality education and a positive and safe environment.

Principal's Message

Welcome to our Knights for the 2022-2023 school year. I am Leslie Pimentel and I am honored to return to Rio del Valle Middle School as the principal to join the dedicated and hardworking staff committed to excellence for all students.

Together the RdV staff strives towards our mission of being a guiding force in preparing all RdV students for a successful future.  We emphasize hard work, good character, perseverance, learning, and service to others.  We offer a variety of programs for students including AVID, Honors, AVID Excel, elective classes, and sports to aid in the development of student excellence.

We are always looking for paths to develop and strengthen school and home partnerships through involvement in School Site Council, ELAC, PTA as well as hosting events that welcome our community onto the campus.

Knights’ Mission – Creating an environment of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, we strive to inspire students to be seekers of knowledge, critical in their thinking, and compassionate in their relationships with others.

Vision for RdV Knights – Rio del Valle’s vision is to develop youth who are prepared to engage with the world through knowledge, resiliency, and empathy.  Our students will be empowered to take command of their future with solid academic and interpersonal skills.  RdV Knights will distinguish themselves as well-rounded students who seek to contribute positively to their community.  They will embark upon their future with commitment and integrity.
