Notan is a Japanese term which literally means “light dark harmony”. Notan is a Japanese design concept that is interested in the use of light and dark colors/shapes, etc and looking at how these light/dark art elements interact with each other. Most of the “Notan” I have ever seen as an art teacher is in the collage style as this art media lends itself well to this design concept. This lesson is on “Notan” and is a collage art activity.
