Communicating with Rio families matters, and we know that many of you plan your children’s meals based on what we offer.  Unfortunately, sometimes we must change plans because we cannot get some ingredients.  This can happen because of nationwide labor shortages in factories, on farms and with delivery companies.  We will post updated school menus in the front office and cafeteria as quickly as possible when we must adjust menus.  This video explains the impact of disruptions to the supply chain on school nutrition programs everywhere.

Rio School District is proud to participate in the USDA National School Lunch, Breakfast, and Supper Programs. All meals and beverages served meet the state and federal requirements based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines.

Rio School Districts strives to serve healthy, scratch-cooked, student approved meals daily.

All our schools offer a self-serve farm fresh salad bar, sourcing fruits and vegetables within 100 miles whenever possible.

Breakfast is provided at all Elementary and Middle schools.

Currently, we’re offering breakfast in the classroom at Rio Real and Rio Plaza Elementary schools.

We also offer Second Chance Breakfast at Rio Rosales, Rio Del Mar, Rio Lindo, and Rio Del Norte Elementary Schools. Second Chance Breakfast is offered during morning recess and break giving students another chance to each breakfast and get the fuel they need for the day ahead.
