Our middle school has a full-time counselor on site to assist in guiding the students through the middle school years. Services include individual and group guidance to help with personal, social and academic issues. The counselor works closely with staff and parents for a successful middle school transition.

Beliefs

Rio Vista’s School Counseling Program Believes:

  • All students are capable of achieving greatness.
  • All students can learn to become self-advocates and can overcome any challenges.
  • All student experiences are validated and used to enhance the learning experience.
  • Each student’s needs (ethnic, cultural, racial, socioeconomic, gender differences, and developmental and emotional exceptionalities) are an integral part of Rio Vista’s school counseling program.

Vision Statement

Rio Vista’s school counseling program’s vision for our students is one in which students are self-determined to strive to reach their maximum potential academically, socially, and personally. In doing so, they will excel and adapt to an ever changing world. One in which they can be the best critical thinkers, creators, collaborators, and most importantly, be able to communicate their thoughts and insights in an articulate manner.

Mission

Rio Vista’s school counseling program’s mission is rooted in creating an environment that is safe, welcoming, and challenging. One that validates their ethnic, cultural, and racial make up.
