Meet Your Counselor

Mrs. Wheadon

Rio del Sol Counselor

Hello! I’m Mrs. Wheadon and I am your school counselor. I also support our nearby middle school Rio Vista one day a week. I grew up attending our Rio School District schools, and I have now worked for the district since 2017 and I am so excited to work with all of you! I went to CSUCI and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and continued my education at Cal Lutheran University where I obtained my Masters in School Counseling. My favorite thing about being a school counselor is getting to work with students and teaching them life skills such as: coping skills, conflict resolution, and goal setting. In my spare time I love to spend time with my family and friends, travel, try out new restaurants and foods, and play with my one year old daughter. I will be going on maternity leave in October, and am very excited to introduce my substitute, Ms. Friedman!

Hi! I’m Ms. Friedman. Some of you may recognize me from your classroom as I have been subbing in Rio School Distrcit since 2017! In 2016, I graduated from CSU Channel Islands with a degree in Liberal Studies and spent time after gaining experience in the classroom. Currently, I am a student at California Lutheran University where I am very close to earning my Masters in School Counseling! My favorite thing about transitioning from teaching to counseling is the fact that I get to work 1 on 1 with students on various topics from social emotional to academic goals. In my spare time I love being home with my family, spending time at the beach, and finding new shows to watch on Netflix! I am so excited to be here at Rio Del Sol as an intern and as Mrs. Wheadon’s substitute.
