• Since 1996, I have taught English in and around Alton, Illinois - the St. Louis Metro-East. In those years I have co-directed a National Writing Project Site. Through the National Writing Project and The Cultural Landscapes Collaboratory I have worked to support literacy instruction across the curriculum throughout the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and University of Missouri St. Louis service areas.
• While at Alton High School I co-founded the InnoLab, a PLC underpinned by a theory of action - Responsive Design. The Innolab saw hundreds of IMPs enacted by teachers from across the curriculum and across the district.
• My recent visit to the IBID summer institute inspired a dream to come to California and join the Rio family. I couldn’t be more excited.

I grew up attending our Rio School District schools, and I have now worked for the district since 2017 and I am so excited to work with all of you! I went to CSUCI and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and continued my education at Cal Lutheran University where I obtained my Masters in School Counseling. My favorite thing about being a school counselor is getting to work with students and teaching them life skills such as: coping skills, conflict resolution, and goal setting. In my spare time I love to spend time with my family and friends, travel, try out new restaurants and foods, and play with my one year old daughter.

Some of you may recognize me from your classroom as I have been subbing in Rio School Distrcit since 2017! In 2016, I graduated from CSU Channel Islands with a degree in Liberal Studies and spent time after gaining experience in the classroom. Currently, I am a student at California Lutheran University where I am very close to earning my Masters in School Counseling! My favorite thing about transitioning from teaching to counseling is the fact that I get to work 1 on 1 with students on various topics from social emotional to academic goals. In my spare time I love being home with my family, spending time at the beach, and finding new shows to watch on Netflix!
