Message from Superintendent John Puglisi
Greetings Parents, Students, and Community members,
The 2018-19 school year has arrived. Rio staff are excited to serve our students, families, and community as we co-create “world class” learning opportunities for all our students. This year we continue to develop our schools and classes so they guide students in becoming excellent communicators, collaborators, creative and critical thinkers and doers as well as caring citizens, community members, and learners. Our focus aims at developing 21st century practices built on a foundation of literacy. Along these lines, we are doubling our efforts to assist all our students to develop literacy levels to meet the very high expectations of California standards. Our continued focus on guiding students to become interested and competent readers is at the core of these literacy efforts.
We look forward to engaging learners during the 2018-19 school year,
John Puglisi, Ph.D.

Who Do We Learn From?
/0 Comments/in Superintendent Blog, Uncategorized /by jpuglisiWho Do We Learn From? This is a question we educators need to ask and re-ask. Do we learn from teachers? Do we learn from peers? Do we learn from our parents? Our coaches? Our elders? Television? Computer? Experience? The list goes on. As humans, we have realized that we are learning all the time […]
