For My People

(Inspired by “For My People” poem by Margaret Walker)

This is for my people that had to overcome obstacles,

with loving words

and cherishing one another.

For my people,

who are known as criminals

who are living poor.

For my people,

who are good in the kitchen

who are athletic in sports.

For my people,

who are fighting for what they believe in

who are encouraging each others to succeed.

For my people,

don’t  let anything or anyone stop you from your dreams.
