How can you enroll for the steam school?

You can enroll online between December 1st- March 2nd Enrollment Link or by paper application and submit to the district office by the March 2nd deadline.

What is the timeline for enrolling in steam school?

What will be the demographics of the steam school be in the first year?

Plan is to have 3 Kindergarten, 3 First, 3 Second, 2 Third, 2 Fourth, 2 Fifth, and 2 Sixth Grade Classrooms.

How many children per classroom?

Kindergarten 24 to 1 ratio. In First Grade – Second Grade will be 26 to 1 ratio. Third Grade will be 30 to 1 ratio. In Fourth Grade – Sixth Grade will be 31 to 1 ratio.

Will there be an after school program available?

Yes details are still TBD.

Will there be buses for students?


Will there be sports for students?

Yes details are still TBD.

Will there be a TK program?

Not initially unless enrollment dictates that one is needed.

If you have more than 1 child and 1 gets in does the sibling automatically get in?

Yes siblings will automatically get in if you gets selected.

Will there be a breakfast program?

Yes children that want breakfast can get breakfast and lunch.

What will be the school hours?


Will special educational services be offered?

Limited Special Educational services will be offered and determined based on the students IEP. If a student’s IEP requires a more restrictive learning environment than what the school has available the student will be assigned to another Rio school site that can accommodate their needs.

Will students have to reapply each year?

No once they are accepted students are expected to complete their schooling through 8th grade at the STEAM Academy.

What is the plan for adding 7th and 8th grade?

It is anticipated that 7th grade will be added in the 2019/2020 school year and 8th grade will be added in the 2020/2021 school year.
