Rio District Child Nutrition Services

Rio Child Nutrition LogoWelcome to Child Nutrition Services! Our mission is to prepare Rio students for learning, by providing nutritious and delicious meals every day. Our goal is to encourage students to develop, learn, and establish life-long habits for making healthy food choices.

At Rio School District, we put special emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables. Being located in beautiful Ventura County, we are able to benefit from the wonderful abundance of locally grown produce. Each of our schools features Harvest of the Month and offers students a fresh salad bar highlighting a variety of fruits and vegetables. Our menus showcase whole grains, low-fat dairy products, and are free of trans fats.

Rio School District participates in provision 2 of the National School Lunch Act, which enables our district to provide free breakfast and lunch to all of our students, regardless of household income. Every meal we serve meets the state and federal requirements, which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We take part in a variety of programs including the National School Breakfast, School Lunch, and Supper program.

Come and enjoy a meal with us, we look forward to serving you!
